Learning and fun for those no longer in full-time employment
York u3a is one of many u3as all over the UK, which consist of self-help, self-managed, lifelong learning co-operatives. York u3a serves the area around York city, with around 1,500 members and a very active committee. We are one of the largest u3as in the country. Everyone is welcome, no qualifications are required and none are given. Members bring a desire to learn and, if possible, a willingness to share their skills and enthusiasm.
Monthly Talks / Meetings are open to all members, occurring on the second Saturday in a month (except August). After coffee there are talks by invited speakers on a wide variety of subjects. See our Saturday Talks page for details.
Trips and Holidays, open to all members, are organised by our Travel volunteers and include UK day trips or short breaks and overseas holidays, details on our Travel page.
Groups - some are 'study' topics that run for a period of time, with most being from September to July, and others are groups that can be joined at various times of the year. See our Groups page for the full list. The Group Leader can give more detailed timings and availability, they can be contacted via each group page.
Annual Membership costs and details can be found on the How to Join page. You are very welcome to visit our office in York, where our volunteers can tell you more. See Contact for details of our office hours.
Our Newsletter is published bi-monthly, recent copies can be seen on the Members Info page.
Further Information is available in the links section.
