L- Basic Sign Language-Beginners Course
What it is: This is a 10-week course between September and December 2022 to enable people to learn some basic signs for everyday use and also to practice signing to others. The course is suitable for anyone who is in contact with someone who has hearing problems or anyone who is just interested in learning a few signs. If you have ever wanted to sign to someone across a crowded and noisy room then this could be an ideal course for you. If you enjoyed watching the signing on Strictly Come Dancing recently and wished you could learn some signs this could be a perfect opportunity to do so. Signs used will be mostly from British Sign Language (BSL) but also from Makaton and other signing systems that offer a wide range of signs to encourage general communication.
When it is: Sept 2022 - Dec 2022, to suit members
Where it is: Rawcliffe, parking available & also bus routes nearby
Cost: 50p per session to cover costs of printing worksheets weekly and refreshments
Additional: There is a space limit of 8 people for this group. There is also a minimum of 2 people so if you and a friend fancy learning sign language together this could be a good course for you to consider as you will have someone to practice with.
