R- Exploring the Bible
What it is: This is a friendly study group that has been running for 8 years with diverse participants. We look at books, themes or personalities in the Bible, in both the Old and New Testaments. The U3A is not a religious organisation, so we study in a spirit of liberal and unfettered enquiry. Our aim is to find out more about this fascinating literature, and to enjoy hearing each other's opinions and thoughts.
We meet in the Fell or Woolman Room of the Friends Meeting House, and can offer hybrid sessions by Zoom for members who are temporarily or permanently unable to attend in person. The cost per person for each session online is the same as for attendance in the room. We will meet from September 2022 through to April 2023.
We'll start with the formation of the Hebrew and New Testament canons, then move on to study Hebrews. Further topics for the year will be chosen by the members during a session in September.
