There are two Travel Sections in York u3a, run by volunteer members, the two sections focus on different destinations. In both cases the trips are open to ALL York u3a members.

Travel Abroad - This group organises small groups of u3a members to travel together on interesting itineraries chosen from the brochures of various travel companies. Members can suggest destinations. All trips are advertised via the email. If you would like to travel abroad with like minded u3a members, contact the group leader for further details via the Travel Abroad page and sign up to receive updates of plans.

UK Travel - A five-day residential trip is organised each year, usually by coach, exploring different areas in the UK. There are short breaks of 1 or 2 nights staying in a hotel and each month we run a one day trip to a place of interest. Any scheduled trips are listed below.

Trips organised by the UK Travel Committee are open to ALL York u3a members. Simply apply using a Booking Form that will be available here or in a newsletter, as and when trips are organised.

After a short waiting period to allow responses to come in following the announcement of a trip, the Bookings organiser allocates places on a "random draw" basis. Further bookings received are then treated on a "first come,first served" basis.

Terms and Conditions
1: Insurance All members are responsible for arranging their own travel insurance to cover the cost of cancellation through sickness, personal injury accidents and loss of luggage or personal property.
2: Access and Hazards The organiser will alert members of problems on the information forms.
3: Cancellations If a trip is fully booked you will be contacted by phone and put on a waiting list. If a place becomes available you will be contacted again. Refunds for cancellations of booking can only be made if a replacement can be found.

Shandy Hall is the former home of Rev Laurence Sterne who lived here from 1760 to 1768 as curate of St Michael’s Church. The afternoon will be spent in Pickering.

The National Memorial Arboretum is a year-round national centre of Remembrance with 400 memorials on a 150-acre site.

Morning and lunch at the Museum with a guided tour, then a short journey to the Hepworth Gallery to browse the works of art.

Tue Dec 6th Christmas Lunch, Hawkhills Conference Centre

After two long years we have been able to book the beautiful Queen Anne’s dining room at Hawkhills Conference Centre, Easingwold for our Christmas lunch. Please put the date in your diary to enjoy the excellent food and meeting friends again. The three-course meal, coach and gratuities will cost £34 per person.
