Consciousness

This first part of this topic looks at the views of three key thinkers on the matter of consciousness. The notes provide links to the videos used, summaries of the key points, and ideas for further 'reading' on the topic.

The second part undertakes some speculation concerning why these thinkers disagree, using Scruton's criticism that they are using key terms to mean different things at different times. Levels of consciousness are proposed and it is also suggested that different personality types lead to different reflections on experience and different philosophical positions.

It continues by examining the idea of self, finding similar disagreements and concluding that these differences are artificial.
