Reciprocal Arrangements with Local U3As

We have a reciprocal arrangement with other U3A groups. This means you can attend ONE of our groups (providing there is space) if you are a member of a neighbouring U3A. Please contact the group leader and provide details of your home U3A, your number in that U3A and an email address.

Please look at the Group List page for details.

Possible New Groups

Working through online courses together
Julie Magee is interested in starting a group based on (free) Futurelearn courses in the area of biology and medicine. Forthcoming courses include a selection of courses on the causes of human diseases that breaks down into
1. Understanding the causes of disease 28/1
2. Transmitting and fighting disease 11/2
3. Cancer and genetic disease 25/2
4. Cardiovascular disease 11/3
5. Nutrition and environment 25/3
The dates are when each course commences. The time commitment is 4 hours a week, each course lasting 2 weeks. Others that Julie thought would be interesting are on forensic science but they haven't released start dates for those yet.
There are courses on 'How the body uses DNA as a blueprint', Genomics and whole genome sequencing (again no start dates for those yet).
If there is interest maybe people could agree on courses and Julie would go from there. 'I thought that we could do the set reading/ whatever is entailed in the course then meet to thrash out anything we don't understand and discuss the issues raised.’ please contact Julie Magee
