Photography - Practical
Meetings due to the Covid-19 virus will be held for the immediate future online via “Zoom” or at Practical events which will be highlighted in the diary below.
Leader and Contact: Lawrence Keen
Our main activity includes camera control, taking photographs and post processing. We also plan to run projects of the users choice allowing us to cover various subjects of interest to our members.
We support this activity with practical demonstrations (now online) and view tutorials and videos about the subject via Zoom, these cover the use of the controls and techniques available for the cameras and software we use.
Members are also encouraged to join and send their own images to the Group Flickr page so that successes can be shared with others or advice sought as to where further work could improve the image.
From time to time we will also examine the work of leading photographers around the World to see what we can learn or how we can get inspiration from their work.
Our members have a range of skill levels, however, we aim to retain the interest of everyone by incorporating into every meeting a certain amount of revision which enables new members to feel part of the Group from the start and at the same time provide reinforcement of important aspects of photography and software for the more advanced.
We use Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop along with Adobe Elements as they are market leading in image organisation & manipulation software and offer tremendous scope for making the best of photographs. There are several other makes of RAW editors & software packages available and we will endeavour to relate the Lightroom and Elements menus to the versions our members use.
