Leaders and Contacts: Carolyn Clarke
Local History 2 meets on Wednesday afternoon in Room 3 (ground floor) at St. John’s Library. Over the years we’ve visited a wide range of places of local historical interest – Witley Court, Kidderminster Carpet Museum, Hartlebury Castle, the Cathedral Library and the Commandery, amongst others. Members are encouraged to do their own research and feed this back to the group via presentations, with or without the aid of Powerpoint! Occasionally invited speakers talk to us about subjects as varied as the Gunpowder Plot, Worcester’s Trams and Stanley Baldwin.
Plans for the future will include local visits and talks on King John, John Wall and Victorian Industry and opportunities for socialising and discussion.
Our venue is on the main number 30 bus route or any bus coming through the Bull Ring. Public transport is recommended as parking is severely limited by space as well as being time limited.
