Woodstock

Playreading

The Play Reading Group, which in normal times has met on the 3rd Friday of each month at Woodstock's 'Ryegrass' common room, is currently selecting a new venue - preferably again in central Woodstock - and look forward to meeting for 'live' readings when restrictions ease. In recent years the group has tackled plays ranging from classics - Sheridan's 'The Rivals' - to modern works such as Peter Shaffer's 'Lettice and Lovage'. Sets of plays come via the county library service, copies distributed and roles allocated at the start of each meeting. During lockdown, a member of a neighbouring u3a Branch has written several plays for on-line performance; one of which our group may brave the technology to tackle (it's a saga of England struck by the plague!.). Meanwhile, members keep in touch by a monthly newsletter and quiz questions, generally with a dramatic or literary flavour.

You can contact the Group Leader by sending a message on the Contact page of the website.
