Woodspring

Welcome To Woodspring U3A

Woodspring u3a was founded in 1993 and has grown over the years to the point where we now have over 500 members.

Based in the two North Somerset valleys of the Yeo and Gordano, we cover many smaller towns and villages such as Backwell, Clapton, Clevedon, Congresbury, Failand, Kenn, Nailsea, Portishead, Tickenham, Walton, Weston-in-Gordano ,Wraxall and Yatton.

Woodspring u3a offers a programme of educational and leisure activities for people who have reached retirement age or who are close to it, and who are no longer working full time. Members contribute their experience, interests and enthusiasms so that everyone can learn from each other, and perhaps try things they haven't had the opportunity to try before. You don’t need any qualifications to join any of the groups; all you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to participate. Nor will you gain qualifications here; the u3a is about learning for fun, for the pleasure of stretching your mind and meeting people.

We are part of the National and International U3A Trusts. In the United Kingdom there are over 1000 branches of the U3A, with a membership of over 380,000. Each U3A branch is a democratic, self-funded, self-managed organisation

If you’d like to join Woodspring please send us a message via our contacts page, and we’ll get back to you.

Subscriptions run from April to March and include a portion for the national U3A; members will receive the national newsletter regularly. The annual subscription for Woodspring U3A is £13.00 from April 2024, if you wish to receive copies of the u3a's Third Age Matters magazine (TAM) which is published up to 5 times a year. For two people at the same address who wish to receive TAM the subscription is £22.40 (£11.20 each). The reduction is possible because the National U3A only sends one TAM magazine per household.
If you don't wish to receive copies of TAM the subscription cost will be £9.40

As we are nearing the end of our annual subscription year the fee is now reduced to £5 until 31st March 2024

Subscriptions may be paid by bank transfer or by cheque. Cheques should be made payable to "Woodspring U3A"

Existing members will receive their membership renewal form in March along with the notice of the AGM.

To join a group you must be a member of a U3A, priority being given to Woodspring U3A members. You should contact the relevant group leader to see if there is space available in the group, and to obtain details of meetings. Group details can be found in the "Groups" section of this website and by then clicking on the relevant link.

In the Documents section of this website you will also find our U3A constitution and our membership application form.
