Latin

Co-ordinator : Mick Kelly
01902 763979

The Latin group meets at 2 p.m. on alternate Mondays at the home of one of the members. In order to better accommodate new members with varying (or no) prior knowledge of Latin we do not follow any specific formal course. Each session involves analysing translations from Latin set for us at the previous meeting. The pieces range from old exam papers to the classic writers and poets such as Virgil, Ovid, Tacitus and Pliny etc. As a mixed-level group our knowledge is built up with appropriate guidance from our tutor Brenda Luck and from discussion of each translation by us all, complemented by our mutual interest in grammar, etymology and ancient Rome.
