Wollaton

Allotment Group

We are a group of 11 lead by the Convener and others who hold a joint tenancy with the Nottingham City Council. The locked site is called Canal-side and is found off Lambourne Drive, Wollaton. We occupy 3 Allotment Plots. The rent is £70 p.a. approx and will rise annually. There is a small parking space down a grassy bridle road and no laid on water supply.

The soil is heavy clay. The plots are open and sheltered with raised beds and narrow paths. Wild flowers grow round the perimeter and we use only organic methods. Some of us have raised beds to grow our own vegetables. These measure 4 ft wide and vary in length up to 15 ft. Others help out on the plot and come down for a very pleasant time gardening.

We have vacancies for those who wish to do general work around the plot and may have a vacancy for someone to look after a specific raised bed. We welcome new members into our social group. It is vital that new members have e-mail, are able-bodied and have at least one morning per week to spare. Gardening expertise is not essential. Friendly advice is always at hand on request.

Please contact us if you would like to join this group, and we will take you for a visit before you decide definitely.
