Garden Group
We usually meet as follows,
- Wollaton Library
- 2nd Friday of the month
- 10.00 a.m. - 12 noon
Unfortunately the Garden Group has reached its maximum group size, so is not taking new members currently.
The group is meeting in the meeting room at the rear of Wollaton Library 10th May 2024. We commence at 10am and end about 12 noon.
A small group of interested gardeners met in April 2019 to plan the future of our new Garden Group. We hold the meetings on the second Friday of each month. The meetings have been very successful so far and we have had good ideas, with hints and tips being swapped between group members and lively discussions on a wide range of gardening topics, together with demonstrations by the group members. We restarted the group following the Covid restrictions on 8th October 2021 in the meeting room at Wollaton Library. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided by the members in turn. The charge is £2.00 each to cover the room hire charge, assuming that we have a minimum of 10 members at each meeting.
The group is very friendly and is open to both new and experienced gardeners, with or without a garden, and is for anyone who has an interest in learning more about plants and gardening and who would like to share their own knowledge. We have group led meetings with a good exchange of ideas and advice. Members who wish to carry out a demonstration (eg on taking cuttings, or on a garden related craft) are most welcome to impart their skills
We have our usual "Sharing Table" for plants, seeds, produce, books and magazines - which is proving very popular with the members.
The group has visited the Walled Garden at Wollaton Park and had a very interesting tour around the garden which is in the process of being renovated. Also we have visited the U3A Allotment Gardening Group's plot at Canalside Allotments, off Tom Blower Close, Wollaton which was very enjoyable and we treated ourselves to soft drinks and cakes in the lovely surroundings. We also hope to visit the walled garden at Clumber Park in the Spring.
