RECENT VISITS

Red Lion, Witney

13 members of Lunch Club 2 enjoyed an afternoon full of chat and a lovely lunch at The Red Lion in Corn Street, Witney on 12th July. The quantity of food served was plentiful and delicious, and some of us needed doggie bags to take home the excess.

I believe we would all recommend the food and service was excellent

PREVIOUS VISITS
The Bell Inn, Ducklington Lunch Club 2 met on 10th August at The Bell Inn in Ducklington. There were only a few of us sadly due to holidays, but as usual it was a lovely, lovely group of 7 of us. As there was a large group from Ducklington having their lunch in the dining room, we 7 settled in the bar area.

As the only public house in Ducklington, The Bell Inn is the heart of the community and a statement of the village's history and traditions. From the repurposed church pews to the glass-topped old well in the bar, there are mementos of Ducklington's history throughout the inn that allows visitors to step back into the village's history. Even the inn's pub games are nods to its history, at the bar there is a game of Ring The Bull set up at the fireplace, a game supposedly brought back during the Crusades, whilst in the courtyard locals and visitors alike play games of Aunty Sally.

Lunch at the MaybushOn 8th June Lunch Club 2 had a great lunch at The Maybush, Newbridge, Witney. The food, the service and company were all excellent. It's a lovely venue on the river, and a good time was had by all.

Our first lunch post pandemic, on February 9th, was at The Windrush Inn for 12 members. Lunch Club 2 currently has a huge 25 members, so lunch for each member every other month will probably be the way it will go; pubs and restaurants have been struggling since the pandemic hit the UK, with smaller choice menus being offered, and a lower number of diners.
