u3a Day

Our stand in Witney Town Centre on Saturday 5th June was a great success attracting much attention with many visitors finding out how the u3a can benefit them when they are no longer in full time employment. We also had visits from our MP Robert Courts, Councillor Duncan Enright and the Witney Town Crier. Our volunteers had done a great job in creating the stand and the publicity materials; many thanks to all involved. See some photos from the day on the right. National u3a Day held on 2nd June u3a featured on National TV and in the papers. See what u3a has been doing around the country at u3a Day Events and see the u3a Day Newsletter Express for a message from the u3a CEO.

Did you realise that the u3a is No 21 in the list of top-100 UK membership organisations, with almost 500,000 members. The WI’s way down at No 32 with only 200,000 members, the Ramblers are even lower at 65 with a mere 130,000 members –yet it seems that both WI and the Ramblers are better-known. Why? So, u3adayis an opportunity for all u3as to each do something to create more PR, remind people of what we offer and what we stand for.
