MONTHLY GENERAL MEETINGS TO BE HELD ONLINE ( SEE NEWSLETTER PAGE FOR LINK TO "NEWS EXTRA")

Meetings are usually held at 2pm at Henry Dixon Hall (1st Tuesday of the month) during the winter months and visits are made to venues of historic interest during the summer.
We charge £3.00 for hire of the hall and speaker, tea/coffee and biscuit included.

Our meeting on March 3rd, our speaker Joanne Larner talked about King Richard III, she gave us another view of his chequered history, seems he was rather a good King.

BECAUSE OF THE GOVERNMENT'S ADVICE ON THE CORONA VIRUS, THE COMMITTEE HAS DECIDED TO CLOSE ALL NORMAL GROUP MEETINGS.
THE HISTORY GROUP THEREFORE WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR THE REST OF MARCH,APRIL,MAY AND JUNE.
PLEASE TAKE CARE AND KEEP IN TOUCH SOMEHOW.
****************************************************************************************************

IN VIEW OF THE CURRENT SITUATION REGARDING THE COVID RESTRICTIONS,IT IS UNCERTAIN WHEN WE WILL BE ABLE TO MEET AGAIN FOR ANY HISTORY GROUP ACTIVITY.
TO HELP MAINTAIN HISTORICAL INTEREST, I INTEND TO POST A SERIES OF TOPICS VIA EMAIL THAT I HOPE YOU WILL FIND OF SOME INTEREST.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE TIME WHEN WE CAN BE TOGETHER AGAIN!

At the meeting on Tuesday 1st October, we discussed the following:
1. Because of the increase of the hire of the Henry Dixon Hall by 60%, it was agreed that the Group's monthly subscription should now be £3.00, some felt that in view of the cost of hiring speakers, this sum might not be enough, however,it was agreed to review this in the coming year.
2. It was agreed that the Group's name be changed to "History Group" so as to widen the scope for booking speakers, this change to come into effect next year.
3. Permission was asked of our group members, for me to compile a list of member's email addresses and/or telephone numbers, to help me keep you posted with Group information.
Anyone wishing to supply me with you addresses/telephone numbers, please contact me via the Blue Bird icon or telephone: 01376 563984.
!I can assure you that the information provided is for your Group's use only and will not be used for any other purpose as per the requirements of the GDPR Legislation!
