Welcome to the Wissey Group U3A
The Wissey U3A, named after the river Wissey, which flows through this part of Norfolk, was formed in July 1995 by Mrs. Betty Evans when the first meetings took place in her home. Sadly, Betty passed away in 1999. The Wissey U3A has grown steadily since then and there are now over 300 members with 30 activity groups.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month in the Holme Hale Pavilion. Members can arrive at 9.45am and meet up with friends for tea or coffee and then listen to a speaker from 10.30 until 11.30, followed by Wissey U3A business and the meeting concluding at 12 o'clock.
The Wissey U3A is a vibrant branch of the U3A, attracting membership from many of the local towns and villages. There is not a waiting list for membership.
Initial annual membership is £10, then £7 annually thereafter. For an application form, either Contact the Membership Secretary by email using the Contact button above, or pick a form up at the monthly meeting.
The University of the Third Age (U3A) movement is a unique and exciting organisation which provides, through its U3As, life-enhancing and life changing opportunities for retired and semi-retired people to come together and learn together, not for qualifications but for its own reward: the sheer joy of learning.
Members share their skills and life experiences: the learners teach and the teachers learn, and there is no distinction between them. The U3A movement is supported by its national organisation, the Third Age Trust. For more information about the U3A click on the U3A button above.
A copy of The Wissey U3A Constitution is available on the information table at each monthly meeting.
