Wirral

Welcome to Wirral U3A

The University of the Third Age originated in France in 1973 with the first British U3A starting in 1982. Wirral U3A was established in 1985. Following an exploratory meeting at the Indonesian Restaurant in West Kirby on 25th July our first meeting was held on the 3rd October at the British Legion in Moreton. Subsequent meetings took place in various venues around the Wirral. It was so successful a number of other local groups were formed. In 1992 we found a permanent home in the beautiful surroundings of the Williamson Art Gallery in Balls Road, Oxton.

The University of the Third Age is a national movement for retired and semi-retired people who are keen to carry on learning and sharing knowledge as well as making new friends in a wide range of interest groups.

We meet every other Monday morning at 10.00am when we usually have a guest speaker. Before the speaker begins at 10.45am, there is time for a cup of tea and to browse the information board to see which groups are running and what events/trips are being organised. There are leisure and educational visits and theatre trips along with a number of wide ranging interest groups

Our annual fee is just £10 with meetings costing £2.00. You are welcome to turn up at any meeting as a guest to join us and see what we do.
