Groups

Members who form groups by bringing people together for shared interests are at the very heart of the U3A movement. These are self-help learning and recreational groups pursuing activities in a relaxed and informal setting.

Any member is free to start up a group provided there is enough interest - you do not need to be an expert in the subject as the co-ordinator and the group members learn together. If you are interested in starting a group please speak to a committee member or send a message via the Contact page.

Every assistance is given in helping new groups set up and become established. This includes help with room hire, materials etc, and ongoing support. When funding is required for materials group co-ordinators are asked to put their requests in writing to the committee.

For some groups a room hire charge of £1 - £3.50 is made. All other members who attend a group not using hired facilities pay a £1.00 session fee. To help groups run smoothly members are asked to arrive on time and bring the correct change for these payments.
