Information for Group Leaders
Interest Groups
All our groups are covered by the Insurance Cover Note provided by the Third Age Trust and a copy can be found in the Links section on this page.
Group Leaders
Health and Safety
There is a wealth of useful guidance information on the Third Age Trust's website.
In particular, Group Leaders should make themselves familiar with information available under the Advice area of the Trust's website. In order to access this information, U3A members must open an account. This requires setting up a username and password. This is straightforward to do. All Group Leaders are encouraged to look at this information, in particular the sections relating to Risk Assessments and Incident Report Forms.
Please contact our Groups Coordinator, via the mail link above, to advise her of any changes to your Group activities or if you have any queries regarding the running of your group.
Our Groups Coordinator is also the person to contact if you would like to set up a new group. If it is in a similar (or indeed the same!) interest area to a current but fully subscribed group, we can help you contact the experienced lead contact to show you how easy it is to get going, and to offer advice and tips too. We operate a waiting list via our Groups Coordinator and can help you meet up when we have sufficient new interest.
Beacon for Group Leaders
Group Leaders can access the Beacon Administration site by using the login details provided by the Beacon Administrator, Lynne Smith.
A guide for Using Beacon has been produced especially for Group Leaders and can be accessed and downloaded by following the link.
Updating Group Pages
Many Group leaders are now updating their own group's page on this website. You just need to let the Web Administrator or Groups Coordinator know and you will be given your own login name, so that you can quickly make any changes needed. You will then be able to login to the U3A Site Builder Home Page to make changes and add pictures/links etc.
Training can be offered and you will find a Tutorial Guide for Page Editors by clicking on the link.
Subject Advisers
There is a network of over 70 national subject advisers, whose role is to provide advice on both the setting up of a group in their particular specialty and the sustainability of ones already in existence, which may benefit from new ideas or a different approach.
