Events: Dates for your Diary
The list below includes several categories: Meetings, Outings, Study Days and Social Events.
Our monthly meetings, at which we usually have a guest speaker, will be held via Zoom for the foreseeable future. They will take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except August) from 2pm to 4pm and a catch up is available via our YouTube channel.
November Meeting - Mughal Echoes
December Meeting - A story of Christmas Art
You are cordially invited to stay on after the talk to enjoy a chat with other members using the Zoom Breakout Rooms! This will be a chance to introduce yourselves and meet other members of our U3A. Details of how to use Zoom can be found on our How To Guides page.
Here is the list of speakers for 2021: We are assuming we will have to use Zoom for at least the first three months and see what happens after that.
So this will be subject to any enforced changes due to circumstances beyond our control:
12 January -Mike Warburton: MPs scandal & skulduggery in high places
9 February - Fools Gold: “Dark Light” a story of the unexplained disappearance of a group of light keepers with music. Fools Gold is a group based in the north of England, too far away to entertain us by any means other than zoom
9 March - Mike Bottomley - Rudyard Kipling
13 April - Jenny Mallin - A grandmother’s legacy: life as a Memsahib in the British Raj
All of these will be presented on zoom. From May, we are hoping to have live speakers.....
11 May - Alan Pilbeam - Gloucestershire Landscape
8 June - Katy Bellamy - Busting Brain Myths
13 July. Bob King - History of Magic, including a live performance
14 September - John Bromley- The Joy of Metal Detecting
12 October - David Howe- Accustomed as I am.... Frank Muir and Dennis Norden
9 November - Groups showcase
14 December - Chris Parks - discussing Mead.
At present we are unable to plan any future outings but when we re-commence the details will be shown with each event. We suggest you book early to secure your place and remember that non-members are welcome also. Places will only be allocated on receipt of your cheque and these should be made payable to Winchcombe Area U3A, and the trip noted on back.
Please send or deliver to D Smith, 5 The Halt Close, Becketts Lane, GREET GL54 5RN.
Also, indicate clearly if you want lunch/cream tea if applicable as the venues all need numbers ahead.
