Wigtownshire

Welcome to Wigtownshire u3a

No longer working full time? We have nearly 20 activity groups and monthly meetings just for you. Enjoy our social, creative, active, and learning groups in a friendly and informal environment. We are run by our members, for our members. We look forward to seeing you soon.

What's on?

The calendar at the bottom of this page gives an overview of regular meetings (but please double check for late changes on the Events or Group pages as appropriate as I don't always catch these on the calendar).

What is the u3a?

40 years of positive ageing

Founded in 1982, u3a is a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities for people who are no longer in full-time employment to come together to learn for fun. Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together.

There are more than 1,050 local u3a's with over 450,000 members nationally. To find out more about the history and ethos of the u3a, go to the Third Age Trust website.

Wigtownshire u3a

----- Wigtownshire u3a was set up in 2008 and currently has almost 200 members enjoying nearly 20 different interests ranging from Art to Table Tennis. Please see the Groups page for more details.

----- Monthly meetings are held in Wigtown, usually on the last Friday of the month, with a range of guest speakers. Refreshments are served from 10:00, with the talk starting at 10:30. Meetings are open to all members and there is a charge of £3 for non-members. See the Events page for a full list.

How to join

The annual membership fee is £20 and entitles members to join any of the interest groups and to attend the monthly meetings. Interest groups may also make an additional small charge to cover room hire and refreshments. For more details, please see our Membership page.

We look forward to hearing from you.
