Wigtownshire

Groups

u3a subject groups are self-organising, and, unless otherwise stated, meet on a regular basis, usually once or twice a month. They each have a facilitator, who may or may not be an expert in the subject to be studied, but who is willing to do some of the organisation. Members may be required to pay a small fee for any refreshments and a contribution towards the cost of hiring the premises; organised visits and trips may also incur travel costs. Membership of subject groups is only open to members of Wigtownshire u3a although potential new members may attend up to 3 meetings before joining.

Several groups are gradually restarting: Music Appreciation, Table Tennis and Playing Music are meeting; Practical Gardening and Gentle Rambling are getting out again; and groups continuing to meet on Zoom include Beginners French, Exploring Literature, Friday Philosophy, Current Affairs, French Conversation, and Practical Gardening. The Astronomy and Recipe Swap groups are staying in touch by email. Please see the groups' pages or contact the group leader for details.

Is your group interested in joining them? We now have a Zoom account that you can use. Please contact Gill Hay (Chair) for details and help. AgeUK have published a guide to using Zoom for the first time. U3A are offering free online Zoom tutorials and information on other video conferencing platforms.

You can contact the facilitator via the 'pigeon post' message link on the respective group page. When communicating with the facilitator, please let them know whether or not you are already a member of our u3a.

If would like to start up another group on any subject, please get in touch with the
Groups Coordinator.

Groups which are currently running are listed below. Please click on a name to go to the relevant group page, where you should find details of meeting times, venues and some accounts of group activities.
