Being a committee member isn’t just about attending meetings, it is about working with a team of people who help run and grow your u3a. Yes, there is work to do, however it is fun, rewarding and very satisfying. We need more members to help us manage our group and here is what you will gain from being on the committee:
- A chance to learn new skills such as chairing meetings, public speaking, mentoring, marketing, social media and online meetings. You can also further develop what skills you already possess.
- The opportunity to make new, long-lasting friends
- A sense of achievement from helping your u3a go to the next stage
- A chance to contribute your own ideas to develop the group
- Members are not thrown in at the deep end but are eased into roles over time by gaining experience in the following situations:-
- Shadow certain committee members in their roles
- Be co-opted without having a specific role
- Get involved with task groups and sub-committees
- Nurture the team with your presence!
Even if you do not want to join the committee, members are allowed to attend our meetings as an observer, to gain a view of the workings of the committee and our u3a group as a whole.
Volunteer to assist and support us with our Social Media, Advertising, Publicity and Training?
