Special interest groups are motivated by one or more individuals who want to join with other U3A members to share the experience and pleasure they take in a subject or activity. There is no fee for participation.
These groups are autonomous and make their own plans and arrangements. They must be self-supporting and any expenses incurred are borne by the group members and not by the central budget of the local U3A.
It is beneficial to have one or two Coordinators as the first point of contact for the group members but in some cases individuals take it in turn to organise a session or event.
Activities are ongoing throughout the year and members are invited to attend an annual meeting (usually September), when existing groups review what they have been doing and for members to bring forward ideas that hopefully will develop into new groups.
If you want to book a place on one of these groups then in the first instance email Ruth Harris-Small on email@example.com confirming that you are a member and saying which group(s) you are interested in joining or use the link to the group application form to express your interest in joining one of the groups
Some groups are full and have parallel groups that are open, some are new and seeking members.
