New social Cycling group - to aim is to go on a social rides, possibly with a stop for an ice-cream, coffee or scones somewhere along the route.
Nothing too strenuous but being able to go a bit further than if walking.
Probably with a mix of pedal only cycles and e-bikes.
Thinking further ahead, possibly with a facility for blind or partially sighted members on tandems to take part.
Planned ride for Thursday 21st September. ( weather permitting)
Approx 10 miles, relatively level with mostly slight inclines and minimal road cycling. Hybrid or Mountain Bike recommended. ( wider tyres)
Meet outside Beevers at 13.30
Along Cinder Track to about 1 mile beyond Hawsker Road crossing.
Grass track to Coast Cafe at Northcliffe Caravan site. ( Open until 3.30pm)
Minor road into Hawsker (Swan Farm)
Farm track / Bridleway via Gnipe Howe to Whitby Laithes / Beacon Hill.
Grassy track down to Ling Hill
Tarmac track past Brook House to Hawsker Back Lane then Green Lane into Whitby.
I did a reconnaissance ride of the route today to confirm that it didn't present any unforeseen problems
