Whickham & District

Events

We have regular monthly general meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, starting a 2pm finishing about 4pm. A variety of speakers give presentations on various talks. Occasional social events also take place.

On the 4th Wednesday of each month we hold coffee mornings for members to socialise and obtain details of current and future events, coffee mornings open at 10am and coffee/tea/biscuits are available until 11.30am. The cost is £1.50. Watch this space as a varied programme of events is going to take place at the coffee mornings.

The above meetings are held at St. Mary's Centre, Church Chare, Whickham NE21 4SH

There was a workshop held on the 27th March 2019 at the coffee morning in conjunction with Newcastle University and an organisation called VOICE. VOICE supports members of the public to become actively involved in contributing experience insights and ideas to shape research and drive innovation. The workshop was well attended, 35 people contributing their ideas. The topic under discussion was isolation and loneliness.

The photo shows our Chairperson Elizabeth and one of the researchers called Catherine. They are discussing and reporting back on the effectiveness of the workshop.

Since this workshop was so successful there will be other opportunities to partake in further discussions with VOICE. If you want anymore information about VOICE please click on the link to their website.
