The French Group meets weekly on Friday mornings in members’ homes. We are a self-help group trying to improve our listening skills and confidence in speaking French. Some members have relatives living in France or French speaking countries, some have properties or holiday there.
We read articles from a wide variety of sources, discussing in French our comprehension, rather than translating verbatim. We subscribe to French language publications that include cds to aid our listening skills and listen to news items on French television.
Our French vocabularies are growing and we occasionally check on grammar points.
We decide each week a theme for the following week’s session and members contribute an activity/game for use on that occasion.
Currently there are eight members in the group which is considered to be sufficient as it gives everyone a chance to participate fully in the session. We do not have a waiting list but if anyone is interested in joining the group please contact the current convenor.
