Supper Club

When and where

• Suppers take place once a month on different days, i.e. a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening, normally in the first or third week of the month.
• A different restaurant or pub is chosen for each supper.
• The group meets at the restaurant/pub at 6.30pm.

How the Supper Club works

• There is an ‘Organising Pair’ for each supper who negotiate with the restaurant or pub. They agree a fixed price menu, with three courses and three choices including one vegetarian. The price includes one glass of house wine or a soft drink plus a gratuity.
• Ideally the price for all of the above is around £25, with a maximum of £28.
• The restaurant or pub states the number they can take. This is usually 8 to 12, but may go up to 18.
• The convenor writes to all members, giving details of the supper (including the date and venue) and the email address of the Organiser. If you would like to go, you email the Organiser and mention if you need a lift.
• The Organiser confirms your place and tells you the date by which you must pay. You will need to pay into the Wheathampstead u3a Bank Account with reference SUPPER and month.
• If the restaurant requires a deposit, then it can be given two weeks before the event, when Whesathampstead u3a has received the money from everyone who is intending to come.
• Ten days before the supper, the Organiser writes to everyone who is coming, giving the list of attendees and their email addresses. It is then up to everyone to organise car shares/lifts.
• The restaurant or pub is paid on the night with the Wheathampstead u3a card.
