Weymouth & Portland

Join a group

If you are a member of Weymouth & Portland U3A you are welcome to join any group. You will need to contact the group leader for the group you want to join. All Group Leaders contact information can be found on the group information sheet sent to you when you joined or available at the monthly meeting or sent with the bi-annual newsletter. If you are not able to find the contact information you need, the groups coordinator will be able to help, just send an email with your request.

Some groups meet in members' homes, others meet in venues where a small charge is made to cover the hire of the hall.

Non-members can attend one taster session paying the session fee as appropriate for that group. You must then become a member of our U3A to continue attending further group meetings. This is to ensure you are covered under the terms of our insurance.

A few items to bear in mind :>)

  • please only enrol in a group if you are able to attend regularly (allowing for illness, holiday etc). There is no requirement to attend all sessions, but you are expected to come as often as you can.
  • As a matter of courtesy, please make every effort to contact the Group Leader if you are unable to attend a group meeting.
  • If you miss 3 consecutive sessions without advising the Group Leader, you may lose your place, especially if the group has a waiting list.
  • If you decide to withdraw from a group at any time during the year, please advise the Group Leader, so that your place can be offered to someone on the waiting list.

Communications to group members are sent out by email. These may come from the Group leader, Groups Co-ordinator or members of the committee. It can happen that when a large number of emails go out, email provider software sometimes thinks it is SPAM of JUNK. It is adviseable to check your JUNK folder to see if any emails from U3A are in it and move them to your inbox.
