Latin (Beginners)
Travel back almost 2000 years to a time when the Romans controlled most of Europe. Join us and have fun discovering this ancient world.
In 2023, in Book I of the Cambridge Latin Course, we explored Pompeii, met some of its citizens and learnt about the Roman world and culture.
This year in Book II we travel to two very different Roman provinces, Britannia and Egypt.
The course teaches the Latin language through short stories. These stories detail the daily lives and trials of the course’s well-loved characters: elite Roman citizens, enslaved people, merchants, heroes and villains and ordinary men and women.
Don't worry if you do not know any Latin. You will have to do a bit of extra home learning to start with, but we are a very supportive group and we will find ways to get you involved straightaway.
The group meets 1st and 3rd Tuesdays 10am to 12noon at the Frank Reynolds Centre, Dorchester Road.
