Throughout the world people have made basketry structures from plants growing in their vicinity. This short series of sessions (three in the first instance) is aimed at exploring flexible plant materials, gleaned from our gardens and hedgerows, to make something useful and/or decorative.
Session one - an introduction to the subject and opportunity to use materials with different colours and textures (willows, dogwoods, field maple, alder, wild hop etc.) - gathered by Olivia - to weave a simple shallow basket.
Advice on what to bring next time.
Session two - everyone brings prunings to experiment with. Olivia on hand to demonstrate various techniques. Discussion of what material/what we can make during third session - garden structures? baskets? sculptures?
