High Street Project
You have probably seen the publicity about this going about...it is really quite simple and is a good way to get out in the open.
The activities can be undertaken by individuals, pairs or groups of people, and the data collected will form a continuing picture of what happened to our shops at this time in history.
To take part you need to take digital photos with your phone or a camera, and fill in some forms. It's a bit like Mass Observation!
Members are also free to use the group as an opportunity to do wider research, maybe by collecting local reminiscences, or maps, or photos.
The purpose of the group is to have a local 'touchstone' to ask for advice, share ideas and generally be in touch. For example, 'how do I get the photos off my phone' might be a common theme that members want help with.
Where possible we will meet in the open but as the weather draws in we will also have Zoom meetings, or use email, or use post, depending on the preferences of individual members.
