Invited speakers and social events

Speaker Meetings

On the first Wednesday of every month we will invite outside speakers to talk on a wide variety of topics ranging from local history and international adventure, to interesting hobbies and expertise. Talks will normally be held in Withnell Fold Sports and Social Club, between 11-12 am, unless otherwise stated. All West Pennine Villages U3A members are welcome. There is a £2 admission charge and refreshments will be provided.

Some events may take place in venues with limited parking. If you are a Blue Badge holder and plan to attend an event or take part in an activity, please contact the group convenor or Events Secretary and we will endeavour to reserve a car parking space for you.

Bridgewater Hall Tour

Bridgewater Hall Come and join us on a guided tour of the Hall in Manchester on Tuesday 24th March at 11.15 am. The tour lasts approximately 1hr 30 mins and is a fantastic opportunity to see parts of the building not usually open to the public.Tour tickets are £6. Transport may be arranged for £12 per head approx, depending on numbers. This is a very popular tour and early booking is recommended, so if you are interested in taking part, please contact Theatre Trips before Wed January 22nd 2020, or sign in at the Social Events table at the Wednesday drop-in.

Wed Jul 1st Dr Andrew Wilde, renowned international concert pianist, plays a short programme of composers such as Haydn, Beethoven, Liszt and especially Chopin, for which he is particularly well known.This event will take place in Brindle Community Hall.
