Privacy Statement
West Lothian U3A treats your privacy rights seriously. This Privacy Statement sets out how we deal with your ‘personal information’, that is, information that could identify, or is related to the identity of, an individual.
All the information collected is obtained directly from you. Your personal details are held on a secure database and used solely for the purposes of administration and the communication of U3A matters. They will NEVER be supplied to an outside agency or party other than for you to receive Third Age Matters, the national magazine, directly mailed or, where applicable, to provide members’ Gift Aid information to HMRC. This is done via a secure online portal.
West Lothian U3A processes member information so that we can keep you informed about events, groups and activities as part of your membership. West Lothian U3A’s lawful basis for collecting this information is legitimate interest.
In processing your information West Lothian U3A will:
• Store it securely for membership purposes;
• Use it to communicate with you as a U3A member;
• Share your information with group leaders for those groups of which you are a member;
• Send you general information about the Third Age Trust (the national organisation to which U3As are affiliated)
On an annual basis you will have the opportunity to update your information, as required, via the membership renewal process. Should you wish to view the information that West Lothian U3A holds about you, you can make this request by contacting the membership secretary:

There may be certain circumstances where we are not able to comply with this request. This would include where the information may contain references to other individuals or for legal, investigative or security reasons. Otherwise we will usually respond within 30 days of the request being made.
