Perhaps too few of us realise that living amongst us in Wester Ross is a man who has always felt so intense a urge to scale near-vertical rocks faces that, at least in his early days, he did so without always stopping to consider how to get off them again. Mercifully, he learnt wisdom as he developed his skills, without in any way losing his boundless enthusiasm - an enthusiasm that he transmitted on 25th March to U3A members in a talk that was an object lesson in the art of communication.
Paul Tattersall is known to some of us as a local climbing coach, mountain guide, companion to Cameron MacNeish, an excellent photographer and the only person to have fulfilled an eccentric ambition of climbing all the Munros accompanied by a bicycle. From the wilds of Tibet to the vertigo of El Capitan, via the rugged wilderness of Wester Ross, he kept us enthralled.

We heard about what the various groups had been doing and what was intended in the future as well as holding elections for the Committee. We elected Mike Powley as our honorary President in honour of his sterling efforts to set up the Wester Ross u3a.
