Covid update December 24th

With so much uncertainty at the moment it is difficult to decide on the walks for the Peak District Walking Group for next year. Rather than distribute nothing, we have decided to put out a provisional list of walks for the first three months of next year. The programme is attached provided Beacon is working alright. Perhaps optimistically the programme predicts a steady improvement in COVID restrictions over that period.

Our January walk is programmed to be within our tier three area of Nottinghamshire. By February the programme hopes that we can make a short drive into Derbyshire but suggests South Derbyshire rather than the Peaks. In March optimistically the programme hopes we can return to the Peak District.

Our plans may we’ll need to change. Indeed if we go into Tier 4 after Christmas we will have to cancel the January walk. Each month we will take account of the COVID restrictions and organise the programmed walk or a replacement within restrictions.

As we expect a continuation of the Rule of Six for some time, we will attempt to arrange multiple leaders so that we can have as many on the walk as wish to take part.

As always we will put out an email a week or so before each walk with final details and requesting who would like to join the walk. Please ensure you are familiar with the Group COVID Risk Assessment which was previously circulated.

Have an enjoyable and safe Christmas. I look

General group information

The U3A Peak District Walking Group organises walks on the first Thursday of each month. Members provide their own transport or share with others. An email sent out a week before each walk will provide detailed arrangements. Please wear boots and dress for the weather.

I attach the programme of U3A peak walks for the first six months of next year(2018). A chance to put those new diaries or calendars to good use. We continue the pattern of holding a walk on the first Thursday of each month. I am grateful to Maureen and John for leading walks on this programme.

The detailed arrangements for each walk will be circulated by email about a week in advance. When you receive this, please let the leader know if you are planning to come along.

If you have any questions about the programme or walks please let me know.

I look forward to seeing you on a walk very soon.
