Do come and join us - there are spaces available in this group.
To understand the Latin that is used in written and spoken English, or printed and carved on inscriptions, mottoes, etc. Thereby to realise how much Latin there is around us, and use this as an introduction to learning the language.
We meet as a discussion group to share examples and develop an understanding of the language.
The format of each meeting will normally be sharing and translating Latin found by group members - inscriptions, epitaphs, mottoes, quotations, even numerals. Short extracts from one of the classical authors such as Virgil or Caesar may also be attempted.
Our meetings will normally be held in St Mary's Centre on the 4th Wednesday of the month, from 10.00am - 12.00. Please feel free to contact the Convener of the group in order to clarify or confirm meeting dates or make any other enquiries.
New members are always welcome.
