Relaxation and Meditation

This group has the aim to better understand yourself so that you can work with your body and mind and not against yourself. Many of us have stored up unhelpful muscular tensions so Relaxation Technique is used to become aware of these and learn to let them go. Deep Relaxation is practised so that you can use it therapeutically when you need it. Practising calmer breathing is also helpful and can make a difference to the way you feel. When you are able to relax bodily tensions we can move on to Mindfulness Meditation which, with perseverance, will develop increased consciousness of the workings of your mind bringing more balance and inner peace. To get the best results it is beneficial to practise between the fortnightly sessions and there are now many resources on the internet to help with this as well as an excellent book with a CD that many group members have found very useful.
Wear loose, comfy clothing and warm socks for your feet. You will need mat to lie on for the Deep Relaxation.
