Return to Appreciating Literature

‘The Power of the Dog' by Thomas Savage.

Set in the harsh landscape of Montana in 1925 this superbly written book is a story of isolation, loneliness and manipulation. Based on four main characters the action unfolds as a result of tension between the four. The characters are meticulously defined and closely portrayed as events play out. This is a multi-layered story, a book to be re-visited, and discussed over and over again.
