Wells

British Red Cross Course

On Tuesday 17th October at Wells Museum members from Wells U3A attended a First Aid Course run by the Adult Education Co-ordinator from the British Red Cross.

A valuable lesson was learnt by all those attending—— First Aid is a lifesaving skill that is within the reach of everyone.

We learnt that there is something we can all do to help in an emergency, simple qualities from:

  • thinking clearly
  • being willing to help
  • using commonsense
  • summoning help using a mobile phone to call the professionals

Following detailed scenarios of common accidents/ events such as falls resulting in sprains, fractures, haemorrhage, cuts and abrasions, including finding someone who is unresponsive—not breathing, we were taught how to provide hands on skills until professional help arrives.

We left feeling more confident in helping when the unexpected occurs.

A truly educational informative few hours well spent. Thank you British Red Cross.
