Wednesday 15th September – Worminster Down
Walk Leaders: Joy & John C
This was a lovely walk, a bit misty to start with so the view of the Mendips was not quite clear. Unusually there were more men than women on the walk – including 3 Johns!
We set off down the lane and then across a recently harvested corn field. A short climb up to Worminster Down, a lovely quiet open space. We did encounter two tricky stiles but all managed to climb over OK. A coffee stop before tackling the tricky descent towards Wellesley. As we approached the bottom field the farmer kindly flattened the electric fence for us to cross over – that was a first! Back along the lanes through Wellesley and we wended our way through the tall maize which luckily had a good path cut through.
Thank you Joy and John.
