Walk in Biddlecombe, Wells

Monday 5th July

Walk leaders: Jane and Barbara

We were just so lucky to be out walking on the only warm sunny morning in this period of very unsettled July weather. Again we were a small group and once again joined by “Hovis” our new four legged member.

We set off from South Horrington up the fields towards West Horrington stopping to turn and look at the views out towards the Tor. Then we took the path down into the woods and beside the stream. We appreciated the sunlight coming through the trees giving a dappled affect and admired the magnificent ferns growing beside the path in many places. We crossed the stream to a very pleasant clearing with a bench for a coffee stop. We admired the “fairy house” at the base of a tree. The mudometer was discussed for the first time for ages and we gave it a reading of 7 as in some places the path was very tricky. It was only a 3 mile walk but with the conditions underfoot that was enough. Thank you to Jane and Barbara for a lovely morning.
