Welcome
Welcome to the Wellington, Shropshire u3a website.
The national u3a website is being updated which will alter the look of our website including the loss of our pictures but it will not affect your ability to view the site or send messages.
In March we were visited by Dr. Kate Round from Dudley Museums who told us all about the history of glass making from its earliest origins to be present day. Stourbridge Glass is known worldwide for its excellence and innovation and has been suggested by the members as an ideal venue for a day trip.
In April we will have our annual AGM followed by a social with refreshments. Why not come along and meet us and find out what our u3a can offer you?
VISITORS ARE WELCOME TO THIS MEETING FOR £3 INCLUDING REFRESHMENTS.
WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE.
The Wellington Shropshire u3a is part of the University of the Third Age: a national movement for people no longer in full-time work, enabling them to continue the pleasure of learning and sharing knowledge. u3a branches and their interest groups are autonomous, run by the voluntary efforts of members. Our branch is currently organised by a Committee of 8 members, although our Constitution allows for 12 members and they are supported by the leaders of the interest groups.
The Wellington Shropshire u3a was started in June 2014. Our membership is drawn from the rural towns and villages in and around Wellington, Shropshire.
We have a range of interest groups, reflecting members' interests and offering a wide range of social, learning and leisure activities, many of which take place in members’ homes. No qualifications are needed and none are awarded: the accent is on socialising and fun.
Our meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month.
Meetings begin at 2.00pm in the Wellington Methodist Church.
Visitors and prospective members are always welcome.
We currently have 13 Special Interest Groups which any member can join.
We would be happy to help if you would like to start your own Interest Group.
PLEASE NOTE: You cannot join any interest group unless you are a paid up u3a member.
The general meetings provide information relating to interest group activities, news of forthcoming events and entertainment in the form of speakers or performers. Details of planned activities may also be found in the annual programme and on the events page. There is also time to meet socially and refreshments are available.
