Information for Members Meetings
The doors open for signing in at 1.30pm. Members need to sign in at the tables to the right of them as they enter through the doorway. Please have your membership card to hand as signing in is by membership number, not alphabetically. The Meet and Greet team will direct you.
Visitors should go to the table in front of them, by the stage, where the Meet & Greet team and Buddies will welcome and assist you.
There is a noticeboard (to the right of the stage) with information about National & local U3A events. In the same area there are tables with information on possible new outings and a "please take for free" area.
At the other end of the room there is a Book Stall for bring and buy second hand books at very reasonable prices. Another table displays the raffle prizes of the day. Tickets can be purchased during the first part of the meeting.
The meeting officially starts at 2:00, with notices about the U3A activities and forthcoming events. This is followed by a break of about 30 minutes when refreshments and biscuits are served free of charge. The payment stations are open for registering and paying for visits. At about 2.45 we sit down again for a talk of about 45 minutes by a Guest Speaker, unless it is a special social event meeting. These are held twice a year in July and December. They are ticket only events and have a different format, including afternoon tea and entertainment.
Please remember to bring your membership card with you to the meetings to book in as it saves a lot of queueing . On the back of the membership card are some questions about next of kin and any medication you may be taking, please fill in this in and have it with you at all times. These details would be required by any paramedic called to an accident or to a person taken ill (date of birth and allergies would also be very useful to them) and may save your life in an emergency.
For the same reasons, please carry your card when attending every U3A activity. Thank you!
