20/03/20 Meetings/Events/Groups Update
Message from Welling U3A.
We, the Welling U3A Committee, are following Coronavirus advice and guidelines given by the Third Age Trust, Government and NHS.
The current advice as at 18th March 2020 is to stop non-essential contact with others and adopt social distancing; ‘at-risk’ groups are to be shielded from social contact for 12 weeks, in particular over 70’s are asked to minimise social contact.
Based on this advice, the Committee has regretfully cancelled all members’ meetings in March and April, as well as proposed events and trips in March, April and May.
We would ask that group leaders contact their own group members and cancel all group meetings based in homes, pubs, cafes and restaurants, in the interests of members’ safety and well-being.
Regarding membership renewals, these can be sent to Tricia Covington, in the envelope provided in your membership pack. If you prefer, these can be brought to the next meeting, once it is safe to do so.
As soon as we are given the go ahead to meet again, we will advise you. Look out for advice on Welling U3A website as well as messages from Beacon.
20th March 2020
I am writing to you to inform you that regrettably , we have decided to cancel all park walks and park walking groups until it is safe to start these again.
I know this is an important part of some members' fitness and social interaction, but social distancing is very difficult to practise in such situations.
As Chair, myself and the committee are following guidance from government and Public Health England to protect your health and well-being.
Please feel free to contact me, or other members of the committee , if you need a chat.
Stay safe and healthy.
Maria ( Chair)
Welling U3A Committee
