Meets Thursday 1.30-3.30 pm in Headcorn, once or twice a month, dates agreed by members.
This group has been running for nearly 8 years and we continue to work on furthering our knowledge of Spanish, working together on listening to dialogues, tackling written exercises and translations, practising conversation and asking/answering questions. We are constantly challenged by our (failing) memories but refuse to give in! Some of us are fortunate to travel to Spain or South America fairly regularly, so can get our ears re-tuned each time and have opportunities to practise with actual Spanish speakers. Members returning from holidays often have amusing stories of their own and their family members' experiences of life in Spain (including what happens to grandchildren in the Spanish school system). As well as continuing to use our textbook for its exercises and recorded dialogues, we read and translate short novels, suitable for adult learners of Spanish, and watch carefully selected TV programmes or videos on YouTube.
This group is not suitable for beginners, but we are pretty relaxed and welcome anyone with an O Level/several years of Spanish study (perhaps at Adult Ed) to give us a try.
