Rock Music (The Rock Bottom Band)

THE ROCK BOTTOM BAND
======================

A note from Dave:
Thanks to everyone who came along to The Red Lion, Apsley on Friday 6th December. Being honest, the band struggled a bit due to flu recovery, toothache recovery and, let's be honest, just general old age and decrepitude. The lively and appreciative audience spurred us on to keep going, and in the end we all had a great evening full of happy music from the 60s and 70s, when our energy was never in short supply. Song of the night? Happy Together by The Turtles was certainly in contention and two really nice slow ballads sung by drummer Paul - Juliet and My Girl. Sweet Caroline once again was the winner for audience participation.

Thank you everyone for coming. We will be back there again on Friday 7th February. We would love to see you there.

Or a little further ahead the band is performing for Watford Park U3A members on 2nd May 2020 at the Bushey Sports Club. This is a ticketed event at £12.50 but includes a fish and chip supper. It promises to be a great night out at a bargain price. Watch out for ticket sales at monthly meetings.

RECORDINGS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD
Back in June 2017 the band recorded some songs. No not at Abbey Road, we think that was another band! We went to the Titan Recording Studios in Watford, which suited our pockets a little better. The songs were recorded live in a single 3 hour session and authentically represent the sound we can deliver in live performance.

The recordings are available to download or listen to on The Rock Bottom Band page on Lemonrock.

Venue: Normally at the Study Group Leaders home but occasionally rehearsals are held at the Kings Langley Rehearsal Rooms.

Study Group Leader: Dave Cadd (Click on the name to email).

Line up: The Rock Bottom Band comprises
Greg on lead guitar and vocals
Dave on rhythm guitar and vocals
Peter on bass guitar and vocals
Andy on rhythm guitar
Paul on drums and vocals

What we do:
The Rock Bottom Band As Watford Park U3A’s resident rock band, Rock Bottom has a wide repertoire of great 1960s songs and more from the 50s, 70s and more recent times, (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Hollies, Shadows etc). We now have considerable experience of playing pub gigs, dances and private parties and whilst most of our playing time is spent at regular rehearsals we are always looking for further opportunities to play and entertain publicly.

Our aim is to be able to provide a great evening's entertainment, tailored to your preferences, particularly for people of "our age" who can remember such a wealth of great music from our youth.

We are available for events both public and private. We don't charge for charitable events or of course for Watford Park U3A events. We would also be happy to play for other U3A groups or for private events by arrangement.

Vacancies: Sorry this group is full. We have a defined performance repertoire that we have practiced and learned. If you are interested to participate in a rock music performance group then the Study Group Leader will be happy to help you try to set up a new group. You just need to advertise within Watford Park U3A or possibly further afield with other local U3As. Hopefully, other players / singers will come forward. It's quite straightforward and you could easily find people who would love to pick up a guitar again now that they have a bit more time. This is how The Rock Bottom Band was started back in 2014.
