Who are we?
Washington Village u3a (WVu3a) began in May 2014, and is a lively and friendly organisation with more than 270 members. We have a group meeting every month in the Function Room at The Stella in Washington plus you can join more than 30 different groups including badminton, coffee mornings, day trips, quizzes and a lively ukulele orchestra (see Groups page for more information).
Our u3a is a great way to meet new people, take up new hobbies and enjoy having fun. Anyone who is no longer in full-time employment can join and we welcome new members. Our aim is to offer a wide range of learning, creative and leisure groups for people who want to enjoy life and make new friends. All our activities are run by our members, for our members, so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved, to volunteer, help out, share your knowledge or even join our Committee.

Meetings and Interest Groups
The u3a has more than 1,000 different interest groups and 430,000 members across the UK so why not come along and see what we do? You're welcome to attend one of our monthly meetings which are held at 11.00am on the first Thursday of the month at The Stella (map), Windlass Lane, Albany, Washington, NE37 1BH, (see Events for details). We have a special table for visitors and new members where our membership officer will make you feel very welcome so please don't worry about coming into a room full of strangers or coming on your own.
You can attend one monthly meeting and one interest group meeting free and without obligation before deciding whether to join us.
Annual membership costs £15 which includes 12 meetings a year, a national magazine which is published five times a year, and access to the interest groups in our network of five local u3a groups which offers even more opportunities to find activities you enjoy.
We also offer Associate membership, costing £11, if you are already a member of another u3a and you wish to enjoy all the benefits of WVu3a membership, including attendance at the monthly meetings.
