Washington Village


Monthly Meetings. Normally held on the first Thursday of the month at The Stella, Albany Village, Washington, NE37 1BH, from 11.00am to 1.00pm (doors open to members from 10.45am).

These meetings are for members (and prospective members) only and there is no charge.

Tea & coffee or juice and biscuits will be available free of charge during the meeting.

Our next meeting will as usual be on the first Thursday of the month, i.e. Thursday 7th July. and the guest speaker will be Malcolm Wilkinson and his talk will be on Charles Stewart, 3rd Marquess of Londonderry.
The talk will be about Charles Stewart and his wife , Francis Anne Vane Tempest, who used his influence and her money to build themselves a new town, Seaham Harbour, and create an industrial empire which eventually made the family one of the wealthiest and most powerful in the country. You'll recognise his statue which is located in the the centre of Durham marketplace.

If a member has any of the symptoms identified on the government website they should not hold interest groups in their own homes, or attend interest groups or attend monthly meetings until they have followed the NHS advice provided after calling 111.

**If a member has contracted coronavirus, they should contact the Chairman, and the Group Leaders of any sessions attended during the previous week.

**The members of interest groups that any member with coronavirus has attended should all call 111 to ask for advice.

In general a u3a may consider other precautions, such as using hand sanitiser gel, social distancing and wearing of face coverings, in interest groups and monthly meetings and reducing physical contact such as shaking hands until further information becomes available.

Mon Sep 19th In celebration of the U3a 40th anniversary we will be having an information stand in The Galleries (near Greggs) from 9.30am to 1.00pm.
Wed Sep 21st The second of our anniversary celebrations will be a coffee morning with a performance from our ukulele group. This will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Washington Village between 10.00am and 1.00pm.
